Born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Pamela Sweda spent her summers on the beaches along the New England coast exploring and drawing pictures of her environment. When she picked up a pencil at the age of two, her parents knew their daughter had a gift. From those early days, the passion that has been her driving force began to grow and flourish,  Through childhood, adolescence and into early adulthood, Pamela explored her artistic nature, seeking her voice. After receiving a degree in art education from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, she has spent many years teaching art at the high school and elementary levels as well as providing private instruction for both children and adults.

After years of working in multiple media, Pamela discovered that watercolors were her passion. She has spent the past 20 years refining her technique and developing her own, unique style. She has focused on portraits of people and animals and most especially, her beloved flowers from the lush gardens that she lovingly cultivates at her home in Connecticut. Combining a marvelous attention to detail and light, with a radiant and affectionate view of the world, a common response to her paintings is "There is nothing dark about Pamela's work." Her portraits of people reveal an empathy and love for the human condition while the paintings of animals display the aesthetic charm and warmth that pets bring into our lives.  The artist's deep love of nature is no more apparent than in her luminous treatment of flowers.
